My 29th birthday!
12 April 2016
And it came… the last year being in my twenties! Not that I am scared by getting old or feel the need to lie about my age. And who knows me is aware that I am not so serious and mature as I should. Or better, I am up to a certain point! I still love stuffed animals, I get excited if I see cotton candy and I melt in front of cartoons… but admit it, who doesn’t? Anyways, I spent nice days with celebrations that have followed between good food and good company. I went to Italy with my family, then I celebrated with Dutch friends and relatives. Here is then my photo report!
A few days before my birthday my mother and my sister went here in Holland. Among intensive hours of shopping (with great joy of my boyfriend) and dinner at the Italian restaurant, we also treated ourselves to an afternoon in Rotterdam. We made the Spido tour in the port of the city to see the modern construction site and the techniques used to transport containers. Afterwards we walked through the Markthal, the first indoor food market of the Netherlands, where I tried for the first time french fries with ketchup flavored with cinnamon. Rather special, but not so terrible.
Arch structured, the ceiling of the market consists of a giant painting entitled Horn of Plenty which size is about 3400 squared meters. Being under it makes feel like little insects surrounded by nature! Walking we also found other attractions among which the kubuswoningen (cubic houses) by Piet Blom. And then, tired but happy, we went back home. I also open a little parenthesis to say that in the evening spent with friends I won at the Wii and I discovered new animals I didn’t know existed (look for yourself).
The day after we took the flight to Italy. Like always I got a cold in the plane, but I got used to it. We had dinners at the sushi wok restaurant, pizzas and other delights and finally the 12th my birthday came. For lunch I could enjoy my beloved rice salad, I opened the gifts, blew out the candle on the cake and for dinner again sushi wok. And following pastries offered by my sister’s boyfriend. The next two days a little of shopping and then came the moment to say goodbye. What a lump in the throat!
The next days I celebrated with Dutch friends and relatives. Games, laughs and snacks completed two intense and full of good moments weeks. I got good gifts and I was surrounded by my loved ones, who could ask for more? Now everything is back to normal and I am a little sad, but I am happy how things went. Do you have rites or customs for your birthday? Let me know!
